Aus jobless rate flat at 5.2% in Dec

Australia's unemployment rate remained flat at 5.2 percent in December, official figures show.

The November figure was an unrevised 5.2 percent.

Total employment fell 293,000 to 11,421,300 in the month, according to figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics on Thursday.

The forecast was for total employment to have risen by 5,000 in December with the unemployment rate at 5.3 percent, according to the median of 13 economists surveyed by AAP.
